I think this plant is really good for our Arizona climate. They are suprisingly cold hardy plants. From my experience they can take a little more sun than alot of people think.

Looks good. Yes, there are a lot of people that grow dragon fruit (aka pitahaya) here. They do take some damage when it gets much below freezing though. I have one climbing an orange tree that froze back some last winter but it lived.

How old is your plant, and has it bloomed yet?

About a year old. No, it hasn't bloomed. Probably it doesn't get enough sun where I have it. A friend gave me that one, and I really didn't have anywhere to put it so I just threw it under that tree.
Some people get a lot of fruit though. There is a guy named Al Falkenstein in the AZ Rare Fruit Growers Club that grows bushels of them. He will be speaking on pitahaya at the Rare Fruit Festival in November. Here is a link to his bio on the Festival web site.

One thing I noticed is that the plant will get very skinny arms when it's lacking sunlight. And thanks for sharing the AZRFG link!

Hmmm one of my landscapers severed an arm from my halleys comet dragon fruit. They must want their own plant.

Hmmm.. on one hand you know your plant is in demand, on the other its not too nice of them to nab it. Maybe they trimmed it?

Maybe... Oh well... The cactus at the moment has 5 rebound arms on the way so for now I'm not to worried about it.
