My guava tree was planted in late Oct and I found some brownish leaves after the winter storm passed by in early Dec. I have attached the photos of the guava tree leaves.

Is this the frost damage to the guava tree? If so, what should I do to cure it?

Thanks a bunch!!

I agree. That's frost damage. Not bad though. Like DaTropicalMan said, leave those leaves there because they actually help protect the plant from future freezes.

Will the guava tree die because of the frost damage? I just planted it late Oct this year.

No, that is very minor damage. You'll probably even still get fruit next summer. In fact, I have seen established guavas survive get frozen all the way to ground only to come up from their roots months later. When they freeze badly you won't get fruit that year though.

Just keep an eye on the forecast during the winter and cover it if temperatures at sky harbor look like they will be below 35°F. I'm assuming you are in the Phoenix Metro area when I say that. Protecting it will maximize your chances of getting fruit.

For more info. on protecting your plants from frost you can check out the web page on the site.

I live in south Tempe close to Chandler. But the temperature in my neighborhood will be ~5 degrees F below Sky Harbor.

Thanks for the advice!!
