Decided to build a small greenhouse to protect some tropicals and other assorted sensitive plants this winter. Wow does it make everything so easy! Will have to take more pictures and post them.

Does your greenhouse ever get to hot? I almost killed my papayas in one.

Well so far it hasn't gotten much about 105 inside so far this winter. I do open the doors on the hotter days that we are having lately.

Its on the east side of a existing building. So half day of direct sun. Rest of the day indirect sun.

Amadio - can you post a picture of the greenhouse? I'm always interested
in what people cobble together on their own....I'm seriously thinking of growing the winter veggies in mine (tomatoes, peppers, etc.) cuz the cold just gets to them too much.....I cover my tropicals with frost cloth, so I have that pretty much covered (no pun intended), but the greenhouse idea is something that's been brewing here too...
Thanks - Gary

I must be doing something wrong with my greenhouse. Your stuff looks great. I bought a green house this year so my plumeria would hopefully not drop their leaves. The potted ones that I moved in there all dropped their leaves within a week or two and the few that are still outside still have a few leaves Lots of other things look unhappy as well.

Are you heating your greenhouse at all? The greenhouse itself will not provide much warmth. I have a 500 watt halogen shop light that runs in mine from midnight till 7 am just to keep things above freezing on the coldest nights. Most average nights its down to around 40 with the lights providing heat.
A greenhouse in the winter without heat isnt much help except in providing a higher humidity.

I have a small heater I only turn on nights it is supposed to freeze. My wife is scared its going to burn our house down. Anybody know of a very safe heater that can be used? I would love to run it every night to help all my plants but right now they only get it when its going to freeze.
