I have some trees that do not have leaves on them yet. The new trees that have not leafed out yet are: a multi-grafted low chill pear tree, a Spice Zee necta plum, a Red Baron Peach, a multi-grafted pluot tree, a Choctaw pecan and a Sherwood jujube.
The older trees with no leaves are 2 apricot trees, Katy and Goldkist.
The 2 apricot and the pear tree had leafed out but then we had those strong winds a couple weeks or so ago and the leaves were dessicated.
All of the trunks are green underneath. I water them on average 1X a week for the new plants and about a week and a half for the older trees. It varies because I test the soil every other day to see if they need it or not.
I did paint the trunks white.
Am I doing everything right or am I missing something? Most of my trees have leafed out and several have fruit on them. |

...when you say "new trees" how long ago did you plant them?
I know my low-chill multi-graft pear took longer than my peaches and cherrie to leaf out, but I'm assuming you've got some of the heat we've been having the last couple weeks, so it is a bit odd they've have pushed out yet.....hmmmmm.....
maybe more clues? Where are they planted...perhaps some pictures too?

They were planted as soon as the nursery got them, late January and early Feb. They were bare root plants that were potted up at the nursery. Since I have had them, they have never dried out. I planted them within a week after I bought them.
My apples, cherries, plums, other peach trees, figs, mulberry trees, nectarines, Asian pears etc have all leafed out.
We did get the heat that you referred to.
I'll work on some pictures. |
