Wanted to start a thread for people to share their unusual trees.
I will start off with Chineese Parasol Tree. In almost full sun. Drops its leaves in winter but grows rapidly in spring. Not need to protect from freezes either!

Next is my Royal Empress tree. No need to protect from the cold. Loves full sun. Nice big white flowers in March. Grows like a weed! I planted this 24 months ago as a 1G and it is now at about 13-15' tall.

Forgot the name of this tree but it has done well in afternoon full sun. Gets amazing pink trumpet flowers in March. Does drop its leaves from a freeze but has had no branch die back even unprotected.

Erythrina getting ready to start blooming. This guy gets frosted back each year with no protection but bounces right back with rapid growth. Blooms most of the summer.

Moringa Tree. Gets beat back by frost each year with no protection but grows about 6-8 feet each summer. Planted this 2 years ago as a 1 foot tall seedling!

Mimosa Tree in bloom right now. Mine is in full sun. Laughs at the cold. It is a slow grower for me.

I grew up in Albuquerque and we had mimosa trees all over the place. Albuquerque in the winter can get into the teens at night for weeks at a time so mimosas are obviously very frost tolerant. Interestingly in Hawaii, I saw huge mimosa trees hanging over the road in many places. They are apparently a very adaptable tree. The only draw back is that they are a bit of weed frequently germinating from their numerous seeds.
