The other day I suddenly got the urge to grow vegetables after watching Jake Mace's videos on YouTube. Normally I'd say that it wastes space and uses too much water, but I realized that the window for planting new things has closed and summer is coming. Plus, I'm planning to inoculate my holes 6 months before hand as recommend by Shamus O' Leary's Tropical Fruit Trees. The harvest would be in fall - winter which would be perfect for planting time. If I still enjoy growing veggies, then I could grow some dino kale on top of my grass. I'm surprised that vegetables grow so quickly! I'm currently growing 'Clemson Spineless' okra, Yardlong beans, and 'Shooting Star' eggplant from seed (in the buy one get one free seed packs at HD). I got some 'Giant Marconi' and Poblano peppers plants (in 5/$10 at HD). I also got some garden soil (in $1.88 each HD). At Lowes, I got a $35 'Fuyu' Persimmon. I gotta get some shade cloth! My papaya is about to bloom, but at this point, it's more ornamental than anything.
