Did you guys get the 122 on Monday like we did here in Palm Springs?
Lots of burned mango trees and on the skin of the mangoes themselves -
pretty brutal.......

It was close to that here in Phoenix.
I moved last year I was able to get some of my mangos into the ground at my new house. I have sun shade over them or they would have been burned to a crisp. Hoping that they will grow big enough to not need sun shade. Of the five trees planted in March only one set 3 fruit.

I think that's pretty amazing, Bruce, that you got any fruit at all on a tree you planted 3 months ago - it must have been carrying some tiny ones when you transplanted it????

I had like 118 here or something like that. No problems with my mango trees or the fruit. I did give them extra water those couple of days when it was hottest. |

well...whatever you did PT worked or that extra 4 degrees we had just put them over the top.....don't you get burn spots on your mangoes (fruit) when they are in that kind of very hot direct sun? And when it burns, it's near the stem....

Yes, sometimes they get sunburned. Not enough to make them drop usually I think. The mangoes on the east side of the tree do tend to do better than those on the west. I lost some small ones in the heat but they were probably going to drop anyways, because they didn't have a seed in them. You guys can get hotter than us, that is for sure. 4 more degrees could be the mango boiling point. |
