I'm glad you are enjoying the site. The brown on the tips of the leaves is usually due to salt burn. It is fairly normally to have a little salt burn on your trees here. However, it will be worse if you are fertilizing your trees too much. I find the recommendations on fertilizer bags to be excessive. If they say to give the tree 3.5 cups I give it 0.5 cups, which is about 1/7th of what they recommend. Furthermore, I only fertilize once or twice year, in the Fall and Spring. Your tree will probably be fine, even if you gave it a little too much. Just keep in mind to be very stingy with the fertilizer in the future.
