My Manila Mango tree is getting bigger and producing more fruit. Three large green mangoes can be seen in this photo.

Here is a photo of my other large mango tree. It is seedling given to me by Richard Gross. It was tiny when I planted it about 8 years ago and was frozen down to a foot from the ground in 2007. You can actually see the stump where I cut it off. This year is the first time it has had fruit on it. Hopefully they'll taste good.

Wow , that ones big and heathly great job bro, I got a couple of seedlings from the last AZRFG plant sale, I wonder if they were seeds from Mr. Gross's tree? because they look like this one. The tree he has Is huge and is not manila, maybe kent? When the new growth appears on mine is so red its almost black. There still small maybe 3 ft. or so.
The new leave spourts on this one looks more like umbrellas then the manilas which look like skirts.
They look ready cool bro
Its hard once you start, to just plant one, Ive put 7 in different spot in hope to have a pic like this one posted in the coming years.
Thanks for the Growing tips on your site

im bummed.. the 2 grafted mangos I purchased at tropica mango have the grafts up high, maybe 3-4ft up on the main trunk.. typically with mail order nurserys the graft on the mango is lower to the ground
I need to be very careful every winter not to let the tree die back close to the ground as then I will be growing probably turpentine mangos ! (DOH!)
or I can try to chop it lower and re graft them back to the trunk only lower to the ground? I've never grafted anything before so I would probably fail

I wouldn't recommend chopping them. The rootstock will send out sprouts every now and then, and you can graft those.

you mean sprouts out of the side of the trunk? or ones that come up out of the ground?
the ones coming out of the side of the trunk i usually pull off

Either the side (if nice a low) or from the base would work.

Yes, something like that. I have tried to graft mangoes without success, but you might want to try a t-bud. I have had luck with t-buds on both citrus and avocados. I have yet to try t-buds on mangoes.
