Hi guys,
It's been close to a year and my cherimoya plant barely survived the summer thanks to some tips from Matt.
Now she is growing baby leaves and I hope she survives the winter in arizona. Any tips are highly appreciated![/i][/u]

Wow. You posted this back in October and I never saw it. My apologies. Congrats! It made it through summer. My Cherimoya is also alive. Maybe I'll attach some photos soon. Your only worry in the winter should be freezing temperatures. Cherimoyas are supposed to be hardy to 25 degrees Fahrenheit. So, I doubt your plant will need protection here unless you live out in the open desert, or we have some really unusual weather.
Here's a reference on the frost tolerance.

The biggest challenge with cherimoyas here is getting them to fruit. I have had an atemoya (a related plant) and the darn thing has never fruited. It's been in the ground over 5 years. However, I have never diligently hand pollenated it.

This is great, thanks for the info. I will be posting my progress. I wrap Christmas lights around it to keep it warm during these past few weeks as it was pretty cold in downtown. I also have a mango tree but hasnt grown much either... patience, patience I guess

It's not even near freezing lately. You don't need to bother with protecting either plant until the lows are at 35. I don't think you'll need to protect the Cherimoya at all.
