discovered eggs followed by the actual squash bugs on my butternut squash 2 days ago.
Started picking them off and squashing them. Sprayed neem oil too.
Last night decided to get the wet and dry vac out, yes that thing has a pull and did catch some leaves but I got hundreds of bugs from tiny ones to mating adults. I then poured all the dirt and bugs into a bucket of soupy water.
Today I used the mini black and deckar cordless hand held vacuum and went round the plant again. Mainly got baby squash bugs. No real signs of adults just found one batch of eggs

I think its working really well. I went away for 10 days and when we got back I only found one set of eggs. There were a few little bugs and a couple of big ones that I have now vacuumed away. My butternut plant looks like the healthiest one I have ever had growing this far into summer. This squash grew out of the compost!
