I have one of those 4 in 1 grafted Asian Pear trees that is a year old. It has some fruit from each of the different varieties on it. I was wondering if anyone knows when these ripen here in the Valley?
One weird thing is that one of the branches also has blooms on it now.

I have some low chill European pears, which are called Florida Home and Hood. The fruit is currently ripening. I believe even though they call these "European" they might have a bit off Asian in them, and that's what makes them low chill. Maybe the ripening time is similar.

Good. I only got one fruit though, on the Florida Home. I let it ripen for 2 weeks in the house after picking it and the flesh was really good, but the skin wasn't too nice, so I ended up peeling it.

My trees are small and the Florida Home had a rough summer. I'd say its barely making it. The Hood looks really healthy but is still small and hasn't produced yet.

By the way, I recently ordered an multi (3 varieties maybe?) Asian pear, from Raintree. It is supposed to arrive in February.

Supposedly shinseiki, nijisseiki (20th century), ya li and tsu li are the ones that do ok here. Hosui is supposedly hit or miss, but Baker's has one in the ground near where they have their Dave Wilson trees.

I think this is the one I'm getting from Raintree. One of the varieties will be missing.
