Yep, I wasnt kidding. Some may view it as a curse but Im firmly in the camp of that its a major blessing. I can protect tropicals and keep them warm easy enough for the 3 months that freezes are a regularity. But i dont think a person has come up with a method yet for adding extra chill hours if they dont get them. Smile

My freezer has an ice maker but no filter. We don't use a lot of ice so the ice can sit there for months, and also the tube to the ice maker may contain water that gets a bit stale. Anyways, I end up with ice that is completely nasty sometimes. Some times in winter I will dump the ice at the base of one of my deciduous fruit trees. Maybe this gives me a couple extra chill hours... or maybe tortures the tree ... ha ha.
