Hi Mr. Maniac - at your service!
well, many young mango trees but the fastest so far
seem to be Valencia Pride and Alphonso - actually faster
than the manila.... The VP maybe 2 1/2 per year - the same
with the Alphonso, but the Alphonso is more vigorous on
its side growth. A real emerging bush/tree. So far teh VP
mango is the taste winner, but hopefully with age, Alphie
will come around...
and my soil is sand, all sand, but I did add a few shovelfulls of compost
when I planted them and mulch them all on top - 2-3 inches.
And this last year I started fertilizing with whatever I had in the garage,
diluted of course, every couple weeks. From Worm castings tea, fish emulsion tea, and some other organic stuff to Miracle Gro. To me this
last year had the best growth so I'm thinking that kind of routine is beneficial...
