|
|
Anyone ever had success getting a Macadamia to produce
nuts in the desert? I've got a pretty healthy tree approaching
6 years old and 8 feet tall, but so far, no flowers.....They seem
pretty cold tolerant, though i have it kind of tucked under some
palms trees and know it's getting some protection. But the growth
of it is starting to really pic up!

Could you post a picture of the tree to gauge how far along it is?

Here's the Mac Tree - It's about 9 feet high, 5 feet wide, kind of planted
amongst a crowd so a bit hard to see. It is emerging through this canopy
of plants into strong light now....

It looks great. I have no experience with growing those here though. Next time I go to a AZRFG meeting I'll see if anyone else has had them produce here.

The AZRFG club has a Macadamia in the the demo garden. It is growing well, but no nuts yet as far as anyone knows. It's been there for at least 3 years.

I think macadmia would produce ina desert region beacause all plants need to reproduce. The only thing that would interfere would be a pollination issue, which is unlikely. You might want to check your photo with members on cloudforest to see if your plant is of age. I'm so jealous!
