Also know as strawberry tree. I was able to pick one up last month and it's flowering like mad and starting to set fruit.
Has anyone tasted the fruit? The info on the internet says it tastes like cotton candy. Can't wait for the fruit to get ripe.
Picture is not of my tree but mine looks just like it with little green fruits on it.

At first I had this confused with a Arbutus unedo which is also called Strawberry Tree, but after reading about the one that you have, it sounds far better.
Please keep us updated. If that fruit tastes like cotton candy, I will have to get one.

Very interesting. Its hard to find anything specific about its frost tolerance beyond "tropical to near tropical". Keep us informed. I wonder how it will handle winter.

The fruit didn't ripen, when it got hot in June they just started to fall off. I did try a few that fell off they had a hint of cotton candy flavor but the green cooked flavor overpowered it. The good news it that it's growing very well and still producing flowers maybe this fall the fruit will be able to ripen.

Nice! Cotton candy. Sounds like they are almost too sweet.

They have the flavor of cotton candy but they are not as sweet like cotton candy but still sweet but sweet like fruit not sugar.

The tree froze out during the first winter. It was in the greenhouse and the heater failed one night and it died at 28dec.

potted I'm assuming?
I got one and planted it in a southwest exposure close to the wall of my house. We'll see if it'll make it this winter.
