My leaves are all brown around the edges. Is there something I should be doing different or is this left over from the frost this winter? Thanks so much for your help. I love this site. I am totally new to growing plants and this site is very helpful. Thanks again.

Hi Ondria,

I'm glad you are enjoying the site. The brown on the tips of the leaves is usually due to salt burn. It is fairly normally to have a little salt burn on your trees here. However, it will be worse if you are fertilizing your trees too much. I find the recommendations on fertilizer bags to be excessive. If they say to give the tree 3.5 cups I give it 0.5 cups, which is about 1/7th of what they recommend. Furthermore, I only fertilize once or twice year, in the Fall and Spring. Your tree will probably be fine, even if you gave it a little too much. Just keep in mind to be very stingy with the fertilizer in the future.

Hope this helps.
