I have 3 very large pots, about 2 and a half feet deep and I'm wondering
if there would be any tree that would do well in a pot such as this? I really
need some sort of shade for in front of my fifth wheel, it has a southern
exposure but I want to be able to move it next year when I move
the fifth wheel. Can't plant anything permanent in front of it because of
the possibility of moving it in and out but we do need some shade. Any
ideas? I hate bouganvilla, and oleanders, and of course I dont care for
cactus either, I know, living in the desert I should like cactus but
I don't like anything with thorns. _________________ Ava |

Hibiscus will do well in pots if given enough water. |

Good ol' hopseed (Dodonea) does very well in containers if given enough water. It's not exactly a tree, but a large growing shrub. You could let it just grow naturally as a large leafy shrub or you could limb the lower branches and give it a pseudo-tree shape. I've got a small hedge of it on the SW corner of my garden and it's done great. If you get purple hopseed it will get a bruise burgundy-purple tinge to the foliage in winter. Good luck! |
