Topic: Scion Exchange.

Have you been searching for something different to grow in your garden?
Have you always wanted to learn how to graft another type of fruit onto an
existing tree in your yard but haven’t found a resource to help you learn?
Please join us for the largest exchange and collection of fruit scion wood in
the State of Arizona! Members and Guests are Welcome to bring cuttings
of their fruit trees for trade and exchange. Various techniques of grafting
will be demonstrated with lively discussion on grafting techniques, fruit
varieties, and tasting.
For those bringing scions, please adhere to the following:
1. Make your cuttings as near to the date of the meeting as possible while in a dormant
state.
2. Cuttings should be about the length (6" to 8”) and width (1/8 to ¾ inch) of a pencil.
3. Don't allow your cuttings to dry out, store them in damp paper towels (or newspaper) in
plastic bags in the refrigerator.
4. Properly label each of your bundled cuttings.
6. Make sure your cuttings are not from an infected source.
8. Do a slanted cut at the top of your scions; this will point "up" in the growth direction.
9. Do a straight cut at the bottom of your scions.
10. Bring plastic bags, masking tape, and a permanent marker to identify the scions you
select.
11. Bring a notebook to take notes as our hosts explain each cutting.
12. Bring as many different cuttings as you can, and be prepared to provide a brief
description of the variety, its characteristics, and anything you would like to state about
the source plant.
