What would cause a mango fruit to start to turn black on the bottom tip?

all the mangos fell off except 1, but that 1 has starting turning black from the tip.. looks like it might be spreading upwards. thinking it might be sunburn i used the paper bag method to cover it and it seems like the spreading has stopped but im not 100% that it has stopped.

could it also be anthracnose(sp)?

I should just pull it since the tree is newly planted in march, but I've never tasted nam doc mai and wanted to at least try one =\

Unfortunately, that usually means the tree is just getting ready to drop it. Newly planted trees rarely hold their fruit. I don't think we get anthracnose here. Its a problem in very humid climates.

yeah thats what i feared.. its just weird that the other fruits first shrivvled up then discolored and fell off.. but this one still looks smooth and healthy aside from the blackening on the tip.. maybe this one is just taking longer for the tree to decide to let it go? lol
