I bought a Cara Cara last year about this time and it has never really leafed out very well. In the last month it has bloomed like crazy but doesn't have many new leaves and several of the smaller branches are dying.
It is on the same watering schedule as 4 other citrus and they are all doing great. I watered every month this past winter and bumped it up to every 10 days when we had that heat wave.
I have not done any fertilizing since you are supposed to wait a year after planting and it is planted in native soil. When I planted it, I did make sure that the hole drained properly too.
It was shaded on the West side during the summer and had frost protection on it this winter so it had no damage from the freezes.
Any ideas?
I can post a picture if that would help. |
