Never heard of it. I have had regular old termites though, twice. Its a good idea to keep an eye on the walls of your house. If you see mud tunnels, across the foundation, connecting the ground to the walls you have termites. At the time my house was under warranty for a previous termite treatment, so they came and put Termador, a termite barrier/killer, in the ground and that took care of it. I still see termite activity in the yard sometimes. They make little popcorn like lumps out of the soil, but they haven't tried to come into the house for at least 5 years. |

Are you talking about termites in a mesquite tree? I used to live on a big place with about 100 old growth mesquite trees. It seemed whenever I was pruning, the dead branches always had termites in them. I don't think they ever killed the trees though, just ate the dead or dying branches.
On living trees, I remember specifically finding tunnels under the bark on the trunk, but not into the wood. |
