I had a Carrie that never fruited in 10 years, while a Nam Doc Mai and Valencia Pride near by were loaded with fruit every year. One year the Carrie had a couple of fruit reach ping pong ball size before they fell off.

Alas, all three trees froze to death in January of 2007 in 24 degrees without protection.

This was my Carrie mango in 1998:

Yep, 2007 was really a nasty winter. I protected all my trees with covering and 75 watt bulbs for a heat source and they still froze back, yet did survive.

yep...got to 26 degrees here in Palm Springs, though I think the worst freeze was in February of that year, but I could be wrong....I only had 2 mango trees then - the big Manila had already been in the ground 5 years and being planted by the house and under some towering palms made out fine, but the younger mango didn't have a chance.

Boy, how much I've learned since then.....
