I've been interested in growing some, I've heard there is some at the extension garden, but little information about how to grow them here is provided.

I've heard its easy to grow, and yes they have been growing it at the extension garden for years. I'd assume its just needs water and sunshine. They do have it near the east wall at the extension garden so maybe afternoon shade is good.

Here is a fun article on growing it.

Another good article.

Evidently not all sugar cane is created equal either. Seems like the best varieties for the home are the heirloom varieties.

Very interesting stuff. I'm glad you brought this topic up. I had not given sugar cane serious thought before.

This seems to be a good source for buying it.

I have had some growing now for about a year. It is really easy. Mine is planted on the west side of my duck pen against white lattice. So, the reflected sun doesn't seem to bother it. It gets "duck" water dumped on it every other day and when it's hot, the water is dumped every day.
