I would assume it would be easier to ship them. |

I have heard of someone taking them out of the pot and bare-rooting them in their checked luggage and having them survive.
Not sure if you can just carry them on the plane as they'll probably be confiscated by the plant police for Non-phytocertification, at the destination
point in Arizona, but i could be wrong.......

It's illegal to transport fruit trees across state lines without a permit from the receiving state. The reason behind that is to minimize the chances of inadvertently bringing in insects or certain plant disease prevalent elsewhere into Arizona. |

Maybe you could do some kind of Smokey and the Bandit thing with a TransAM and Semi.
On a more serious note. You definitely need to be careful taking plants from Florida to here, especially citrus because the Citrus Greening Disease in Florida is a really serious problem.
Mangoes might not be that big of a deal but evidently Florida can have nemotodes, a type of worm, that you don't want to bring home in the soil of a plant.
See if you can't get a photosanitary certificate from the nursery you buy from. If Toptropicals is selling there I bet the have them, because they ship one with every plant they send me.
If you have the certificate taking them on a plane might not be an issue. Then again it might be easier just to mail order them from someone like Top Tropicals. They have lots of mangoes.
Regardless, sounds like that plant sale will be fun. |
