If it were me I would widen the mulch area around the trees. There is going to be alot of reflected heat off the rock. Remember, understand where these trees are native and replicate.

The leaves on your mango in the ground look fairly yellow. Probably its getting too much water. The one in the pot looks good, but pots drain so you can water a plant in a pot much more frequently. Also, I agree with the previous post, mulch more heavily and further beyond the drip line.

Also be aware that block walls radiate a lot of heat. Those right against the wall may bake which is sad.
And widen mulch basin as stated above. Just put mulch over the rock, no need to remove the rock, it's heavy to move and causes no harm once buried. You're avoiding reflective heat for summer time.

Back off the frequency of the in ground mango watering. It does not need as much water as the potted mango.

Mariolo - yeah, the potted mangos do look so much better than the in-grounders.....that Carrie looks spectacular!
nothing to add to what the gang has said - I might add some weak fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season if you don't already do that. I found that my mangoes gained some nice growth this year with that routine...
Did you Carrie have any fruit on it this year?

The bad thing about planting now is we have to worry about putting up frost protection:(
