I tried one. They are a little more frost sensitive then some of their relatives like atemoya and cherimoya. I tried one outside and it was killed by frost. You are best keeping it in a large pot, especially because Queen Creek is a cold part of town. I have read that sugar apples will fruit even in a pot. Maybe get a large pot with wheels that you can pull inside on freezing nights. You could also move it to a shady sport in summer and put it in an a sunny spot the rest of the year. I am curious how it will do, keep us posted. I'm thinking of trying a sugar apple again one of these days. I think they fruit more easily than cherimoyas and atemoyas. My atemoya has been in the ground for years and still nothing.

Usually potting soil already has fertilizer in it, so if its in new potting soil you can go for a long time without fertilizing it. When you do start fertilizing it, I recommend fish emulsion 5-1-1. You can buy it at home depot. Mix a cap of fish emulsion into a gallon of water and water the tree with it. You probably only need to do that once a month. If you get a fruit, post a photo of it here. Smile

Looks good. I recommend painting the outside of those pots white otherwise they get really hot in the sun and its not good for the tree roots. You might have them in full shade now, but eventually you'll want to put them in the sun when the weather is cooler.
