I was pretty excited the other day and ordered some heirloom watermelon seeds online. Of course, I didn't stop to think about whether or not I could still plant them at this time of year. Most of what I look at says I should plant watermelon in March, but I did find some sites that said it'd be okay to plant them now. What does everyone think? I planned on planting the watermelon in a raised bed, if that makes any difference. |

Hmmm. Seems like the white flies will make short work of your plants in July. However, I did have a friend that planted some late one year and it worked out for him. The only way to know for sure is to try it. Let us know how it goes. |

According to the AZ Urban Garden planting chart, you can plant watermelons until about July 15th. I'm not sure if that is seeds or transplants.
You can check it out at http://www.urbanfarm.org/
There is a downloadable planting guide there. |

Thank you, both of you
Maybe I'll just try it out. It's worth a try! |
