After the Christmas party last December 8 stopped by a box store and they had a flowering Loquat pant and this is the fruit that is developing

Nice. My loquat, even though its a large tree, seems to have taken this year off from fruiting. Maybe its alternate bearing.

Don't like that idea of not getting fruit every year My navel orange tree will skip years if it's not fertilized three times a year. Now that I'm gardening again it looks better than it ever has. Of course it's the first time in 25 years that it has been mulched. Mulch is now the best friend my plants can have thanks to you and the AZRFG club.

I doubt anyone that had an unprotected tree got fruit this year. The blooms are pretty frost sensitive and I lost all of mine in the January frosts. The tree, however, wasn't even phased by the cold.

I don't think mine flowers until February or even March, although I admit I don't recall exactly. The fruits are ready by May. So, I don't think the freezes in January would have affected it. It did kind of half heartedly try to flower in the Fall, but I said... Oh no you don't... and clipped those off. Maybe it is angry because of this.. ha ha.

Picked one of the fruits it was soft and colored up really nice but it was very sour even with the skin removed. The flavor wasn't bad but it was over powered by the sourness. Maybe needed more heat to concentrate the sugar in it and the seeds were already sprouting inside the fruit.

When do you pick them?

Mine generally taste good. Maybe let them ripen longer.

Yep that worked let it ripen until it fell off into my hand and it was very tasty! My family members eyes light up when tasting it, very nice fruit.
