Have you tried other varieties of loquat?

I have tasted other loquat varieties, but not tried to grow them. This BJ tree is becoming very productive now and we were enjoying loquats for almost too months this year. We probably had like 50+ fruit on our tree. The birds like the loquats but not as much as they seem to like peaches. Hanging CD's saved at least 80% of our loquats from the birds.

And how big is your tree? I've had mine about 3 years and had 1 cherry so far. Sure seems to struggle in my desert climate here....

I bought a Pakistani mulberry at HD last month and have enjoyed a few fruits already - what a unique taste they are! You like yours?

I'm gonna go check our your May post now....

PT - do you mean "not tried to grow them" or " haven't grown them"?

myamberdog, HD sells 'Pakistan' Mulberry!? LaVerne Nursery doesn't have it listed on their website, but then again, it's kinda outdated.

Have you considered acerola/barbados cherry?

I think those two cherries in the photo are minnie royale, but I have had fruit on both. I haven't had a whole lot of cherries yet either. Just a handful. My trees are 3 years old and kinda small but they seem to be getting more established now. The royal lee seems to take the heat better than the minnie royale. The graft line onto 3cr178 is pretty ugly looking, it flares out like a donut around the trunk but the trees are doing much better on that then some trees I had that died grafted to mazzard.

Mulberries are really easy to grow from cuttings.

I don't like the flavor of acerola too much, even when trying them in Hawaii, in ideal growing conditions.
